Low Loss Headers

Cascading Boiler Systems

Cascading Boiler Systems

In light commercial applications, the installation of a single high-output boiler is not always the most efficient way to respond to changing heat loads. By installing up to 4 equally-sized, lower output boilers in a cascading system, the same output can be delivered but at much higher levels of efficiency.

To operate effectively, a cascading heating system needs to incorporate a Low Loss header to regulate flow rate and pressure by hydraulically separating the primary and separately pumped secondary circuit. If installed vertically, low loss headers can help to collect sludge from the system. Due to the low flow velocity through the low loss header, the debris from the system has time to fall to the bottom of the header and traps for safe removal via a drain valve.

Firebird Low Loss Headers

Firebird Low Loss Headers

Firebird Low Loss Headers are specifically designed to match the performance of Firebird boilers and take into account minimum boiler flow rates and the temperature differentials on the various circuits.

Available in 100kW, 200kW and 600kW max inputs, the Firebird Low Loss Header is easy to install with 4 mounting points and convenient tapping points for expansion provision. This offers the flexibility to retrofit additional heat sources at a later date, such as an air source heat pump or biomass boiler.

Low Loss Header Management Controller

Low Loss Header Management Controller

The Firebird Low Loss Header is managed by the Firebird Low Loss Header Management Controller which allows up to 4 Firebird boilers to be multi-cascaded and individually modulated. Boilers can be sequenced to come in and out of operation when required to evenly spread their usage and ultimately prolonging their lifespan.

Easy to set up, with clearly marked electrical connections, the Firebird Management Controller allows timed control rotation of master / slave function to deliver heat to the low loss header depending on demand.

• Controls up to 4 equally sized boilers • Built-in weather compensation • Timed control of master/slave function (10-800 hrs) • 2 button navigation selection • Clearly marked electrical connections • Easy set-up • 2 year warranty
